!! OMG, quote of the day: Andrew Garfield says he’s basically a gay man now, without the physical act !!

“My only time off during rehearsals – every Sunday I would have eight friends over and we would just watch Ru. I mean every single series of RuPaul’s Drag Race. I mean every series. This is my life outside of this play. I am a gay man right now just without the physical act – that’s all. As far as I know, I am not a gay man. Maybe I’ll have an awakening later in my life, which I’m sure will be wonderful and I’ll get to explore that part of the garden, but right now I’m secluded to my area, which is wonderful as well.”

Drag Race super-fan and thespian, Andrew Garfield.

  1. Andrew Garfield is one hot guy. I just want to kiss him so badly. My crush.

  2. I honestly think we have a boot up our ass about anything. I believe he is more flexible than the mainstream sees and this is a way to express that. He may question his sexuality later. In any event, every time someone says or does something that seems idiotic to you is not necessarily cause for him to be hung by his toenails and exiled, never to work or be heard from again.

  3. No physical act? But he’s an actor. To quote Tom Hardy, when asked if he’d had any sexual relations with other men: “Of course I have. I’m an actor for fuck’s sake. ‘I’ve played with everything and everyone. I love the form and the physicality, but now that I’m in my thirties, it doesn’t do it for me. I’m done experimenting but there’s plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life.” If you’re gonna claim you’re a gay man, at least rehearse for the part a little. 🙂

Honestly I feel like people are blowing this way out of proportion. Did he say something stupid? Yes, but his always been a big supporter of the LGBT+, and has spoken up for us on several occasions. The truth is we need more straight guys, like him, speaking up for us at times. And crucifying him will not help that fact.

  5. I watched Good Times and The Jeffersons.
    I’m black, now.

  6. Why do people get bent out of shape with what anyone has to say ? Everyone should just go on with their lives, He’s a straight man for god sakes, how is he the expert on how you feel about gay, bi, or whatever, it’s how HE feels right now, and he has that right, just like you do, with however you’ve chosen to live

  7. He’s cute but dumb

  8. That is the single stupidest thing I’ve ever read. Artistic types are too strange for their own good. You’re either gay or you aren’t. There is is “garden” to explore ffs.

You could be bi-curious, hetero-romantic bisexual, hetero-flexible, etc.

To be fair, this is rather taken out of context. He is currently playing the lead character in Angels in America, a gay man with AIDS in 1985, at the National Theatre in London (a stunning performance by the way), and these quotes were lifted from a longer interview with him where he was discussing the play

  10. I’m now going to call him Andrew Dolezal. Enjoying someone else’s culture does not make you of that culture. I watch a lot of British television, but I’m not going around calling myself “British but without the accent”. Idiot.

  11. Perhaps he and James Franco can get together…? They would make for a very cute (albeit closetedly confused) couple…

  12. Liking drag shows makes you gay? No wonder this comment got hit with a wave of backlash. Bit twatty.
