!! OMG, Darren Criss drips for ‘Out’ magazine !!

Why aren’t all straight men like Darren Criss? Just imagine it, a world full of men comfortable with their sexuality and proud — enthusiastic even — to advocate for the gay community. Criss covers Out magazine’s March Hollywood issue, talking inside about how he handled the media buzz around playing a gay character:

“I think it’s more empowering to everybody, including myself, if I’m articulate about identifying myself as a straight male playing a gay character. Ultimately, that’s more powerful for both communities.”

On another note, it also wouldn’t be so bad if all straight men looked like Darren Criss either…and occasionally wore clingy wet clothes. More soaked shots from the mag after the jump.

  1. i’m with dk on this. his gay is showing. as someone who has followed him in the harry potter musicals before GLEE and live performances at a number of gay bars that are available on you tube and the interview with ELLEN where he comes out as str8! he was squiming when ELLEN approached the topic. this isn’t a str8 guy demanding to be known as str8. just watch the videos from GLEE, he’s a FOD. by the way, there are more pictures from this shoot at the photographer’s page. sorry, don’t remember who that is right now. 🙂

  2. Of course it’s more empowering for Darren to identify himself as straight. The minute he does, he’s keyed into all sorts of heterosexual privilege that makes living life easier.
Straight men play gay, they get Oscars.
Gay men play gay, they’re playing a supporting role (generally the token queen/punch-line in human form).
Gay men play straight, no one “buys” it.
It’s definitely more empowering for the heterosexual community, but as far as the LGBT community, not so sure.

  3. Yeah, I think r0ckmypants has it right. What’s so empowering about it?

  4. I’ve seen him on talk shows and such out of character, and I’m having trouble believing he’s straight. Like Whitney says, “I want to see the receipts”… just sayin…

  5. Don’t be an idiot. It’s not “empowering” for him in any way. This is just him reaffirming his heterosexuality so that he isn’t pidgeonholed as a gay character. Wow, so groundbreaking! A straight actor playing a gay role! IT’S NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!

  6. OMG hot. Though he should have shown more skin + nipples. He makes me hard. Gorgeous.
