!! Shame on Yale! !!

Yesterday I was in New Haven with my friend Van to support the Yale workers who are on strike. Wow, it definitely gave us that “glow” that you get after a really good (and really HUGE) demonstration. It was well organized and a bunch of people were arrested in this weird symbolic way after they sat in an intersection. There were also these people standing on top of Au Bon Pain that were really awesome. They were just standing there with folded arms and really sour expressions. I think they must hate unions because all organizing ever does is raise the prices on their Abercrombie and Fitch (but wait, can they be any higher?). I love those people.
So I guess there were thousands of people there, even though I have yet to see a news story that’s covered it. After protesting, we wandered around the beautiful town of New Haven and snuck into a very fancy hotel to pee. Outside the bathroom there was a nice Yamaha piano and we spent a couple hours playing duets and singing soulful renditions of the Pet Shop Boys. We actually lost ourselves in the music so much that we were late for our train home and we had to run (Van was wearing flip-flops) to the station, carrying two styrofoam containers of pita bread, hummus, babaganoush, and falafel that gradually covered more and more of my jacket as it spattered in the wind and rain. We made the train with one minute to spare and a Middle-Eastern feast during the ride back was a perfect end to a rainy but magical afternoon.
