For some time I have felt that I wanted to revisit tracks from these two albums and that they could benefit from having new life breathed into them. Lots of work had gone into the two original albums and now these songs have another layer of work woven into their fabric. I think of this as a new album.
Director’s Cut is out May 16 via EMI/Fish People. Track listing after the jump.
Director’s Cut track listing:
01 Flower of the Mountain * (originally titled ‘The Sensual World’)
02 The Song of Solomon &
03 Deeper Understanding *
04 Lily &
05 The Red Shoes &
06 This Woman’s Work *
07 Moments of Pleasure &
08 Never be Mine *
09 Top of the City &

Love Kate SO much… but this really feels depressing. Hate the auto-tune of Bertie. Often with Kate’s best work, work that really shakes us up (like the first time you listened to the Dreaming) it might take a few listens to get it– however I don’t think the initial recoil to this is because Kate is shaking us up. Rather it is because she isn’t. I hope I am being too premature in my concern, but like other comments, this could be really sad, if not bad.
Love you Kathy and I long for traveling any new sonic paths you forge for us. Perhaps you have with this venture. I hope so.
