Exciting news from the world of pop music: British group Saint Etienne announced today that they are preparing to release their first album of new material in seven years. Its lead single, “Tonight,” is out March 5 and is a classic dance-pop number produced by Kylie/Pet Shop Boys collaborator Tim Powell.
Chatting to Pitchfork, Saint Etienne’s Bob Stanely says the song is “about the anticipation of going to see your favorite artist. For some reason, I imagine this show is at the Forum in Kentish Town. The whole album is about the power of pop, how it affects and shapes your life. People talk about the problem of landfill indie, but there’s so much landfill pop around at the moment – we’re trying to do something about it.”
I’ll drink to that. Listen to “Tonight” below and download it free via the band’s website (email sign-up required).
omg…………..welcome back. the best damn song around.
