There is a lot of new music out so far this fall, and we will sum it up with one word: FUN.
One of our favorite September releases is “Good Ones” from Charli XCX,the leading single off her upcoming album. Many believe Charli XCX has shaped a whole subgenre of experimental pop music, but the singer-songwriter is taking on a more conventional, cookie-cutter sound for the new album. Charli has said that she’s leaning into “basic” for this one because it will be her final album on a major label, and we’re here for it.
Although the earnest basicness is conceptually sound, Charli XCX is incapable of making a bad tune. We hope you enjoy her new song about unhealthy love patterns over a synthpop beat!
When Lady Gaga’s Chromatica came out in 2020, we were all in a dark, socially deprived place. Maybe that’s why the recently released remix album Dawn of Chromatica is such a treat. Gaga collaborates with some of the leading names in contemporary dance music, including Arca, Charli XCX, Shygirl and more. Between them all, it’s hard to pick a favorite track.
The September playlist has over two hours of new tunes for you, including releases by Boys Noize, Realistic, Regina Gently, Disclosure and many more.
