In case you haven’t heard in the back, new legislations in Tennessee seek to banish drag-queens from the public eye (in places where children are present, and within 1,000 feet of schools, public parks, or places of worship), and block trans people from receiving gender affirming care—and Madonna, for one, is not having it!
No matter what planet Madonna might be on these days, she continues her long-standing record as an LBTQ activist for us humans on earth. In response to the terrible legislations, Madonna has announced a tour stop in Nashville, where she’ll be joined by Bob the Drag Queen. A percentage of proceeds will go towards organizations that support trans-rights.
Read her press release statement, after the jump:
The oppression of the LGBTQ+ people is not only unacceptable and inhumane; it’s creating an unsafe environment; it makes America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color. Also, these so-called laws to protect our children are unfounded and pathetic. Anyone with half a brain knows not to fuck with a drag queen. Bob and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the queer community.
