This is the crossover event nobody saw coming and absolutely everyone needed!
Aubrey Plaza, John Waters, and Amy Sedaris sat down on The View this week to promote Kevin, their new adult animated comedy dropping on Prime Video today (April 20) — and the segment was every bit as chaotic as you’d hope when you put those three humans on a couch together.
Plaza is visibly pregnant and glowing in that distinctly ‘Aubrey Plaza way’ where she still looks like she might be plotting something, co-created the eight-episode series with showrunner Joe Wengert and producing partner Dan Murphy through her company Evil Hag Productions. The show follows a neurotic housecat named Kevin who, after his human owners break up, moves into a pet rescue in Astoria, Queens, where a band of misfit animals help him figure out what he actually wants out of life.
The voice cast is absurd in the best way. Sedaris plays Brandi, a brassy Shih Tzu who runs the rescue. Waters lends his unmistakable voice to the ensemble. View host Whoopi Goldberg voices Cupcake, a feral hairless cat. Jason Schwartzman, Quinta Brunson, and Aparna Nancherla round out the cast.
The segment itself was a gift. Plaza joked about her pregnancy in her first televised interview since confirming she and actor Christopher Abbott are expecting their first child this fall, reassuring fans that “the cat is doing great.” Check out the clip above and stream all eight episodes of Kevin on Prime Video now.
