!! OMG, and the winner for best Met Gala commentary goes to… !!

Christina Ricci! When Variety posted an Instagram carousel of Katy Perry posing with Heated Rivalry breakout Connor Storrie at this year’s Met Gala, Ricci dropped a single comment beneath it:

“Yikes.”

That was it. No elaboration, no follow-up. Just yikes.

Perry arrived at the gala in a Stella McCartney look anchored by a mirrored fencing-style mask that covered her entire face, paired with six-fingered gloves and a metal grill. Her team later explained the mask was meant to be a commentary on perception, AI deepfakes, and how we project onto public figures. Whether that landed or not depends on who you ask…

But most people reading Ricci’s comment aren’t talking about the outfit. They’re connecting it to the broader cloud hanging over Perry right now — specifically, Ruby Rose’s public allegation from April that Perry sexually assaulted her at a Melbourne nightclub in 2010. Victoria Police have confirmed an investigation is underway, and Perry’s representatives have denied the claims.
Ricci and Rose worked together on the 2013 film Around the Block, which has only fueled speculation that the comment was personal rather than sartorial.

Ricci hasn’t clarified, and frankly, she doesn’t seem like someone who feels the need to.
