The FBI director sued California blogger Jim Stewartson for $10 million over a string of insults, “googly-eyed Kremlin bitch” being the headline act alongside “blatantly incompetent chud” and accusations of being a “Kremlin asset.” Patel actually won on paper first, a $250,000 default judgment landed in his lap last August when Stewartson didn’t bother showing up to defend himself.
Then Stewartson showed up. He argued the case never belonged in Nevada to begin with, since he’s a Californian with zero meaningful ties to the state, and Chief District Judge Andrew Gordon agreed, tossing the whole thing for lack of jurisdiction…
So the director of the FBI spent two years and untold legal fees chasing a man who called him googly-eyed, and walked away with nothing but a dismissed case and a very online victory lap from the guy who said it. Stewartson is celebrating on social media as expected. Some insults just aren’t worth the courtroom.
