!! OMG Stars: Full Moon in Libra, March 2021 !!

I love astrological oppositions so much: I talk about them with all my clients in probably every session, and I’m certain I’ve written about my love of oppositions here before. Part of why I’m certain about it, aside from my obsession with them, is that full moons are actually an opposition: they are when every month, the moon is 180 degrees away from the sun, reflecting light back to us from the sun completely. So every month I think about oppositions while I write these full moon horoscopes, and I think, damn, I really love thinking about oppositions.

The zodiac is made up of twelve signs that form six oppositions, six polarities, axis, siblinghoods that describe parts of our being. The Aries and Libra opposition speaks to our need for autonomy and our need for connection: Aries says “I am” and Libra says “I connect.” What I love about oppositions is that they teach us what these supposedly opposite concepts have in common: opposites are not two things that are diametrically different, but two things that differ on what they relate about.

For instance, up and down are opposites about direction; big and small about size: but the two concepts need their difference in order to relate. Aries and Libra is about our sense of self. For Aries, determined and individualistic, for Libra, through connection and mirrored back to the self, but both ultimately about that quest for self knowledge.

Full Moon in Libra and Venus Cazimi

This full moon gets extra Libra energy because Libra’s ruling planet Venus is currently conjunct the sun in an astrological occurance called a cazimi: this happens when a planet is conjunct the sun, and brings the energy of that planet into bright light and focus.  Venus is the planet that rules our connections and our care. Close to the sun, it means these parts of our lives feel in focus, and in the sign of Aries, we’ll be focusing very much on how these connections and feelings make *us* feel.

Presently, I’m writing this on the evening of the full moon, and looking out the window from my desk I see just a little glimpse of light coming from where the moon is hidden on a cloudy night. Our connections to each other are the most important and tenuous part of our lives, and they have been challenged so deeply in this past year.

In the wake of this full moon and Venus cazimi I hope you can hold your closest connections close to you, and recognize that letting someone in doesn’t threaten your own sense of self.

Others might not always see the determined and independent version of yourself that you keep a bit hidden: in your day to day life you might be more likely to prioritize harmony and connection, meaning that freewheeling side of yourself stays a bit hidden.

Gemini Rising and Sun

What is it you want to share with the people around you, and what is holding you back from doing it? What personal myth are you holding onto about your singularity (rich and deep and true as that is) that is stopping you from bringing out into the world the things you make, or say, or do, or think?

This full moon shows that your community is ready and waiting for it, that the people around you love to see what you have to say and are going to greet it with warmth and admiration. Feel safe in sharing because your multiplicity inspires us all.

Cancer Rising and Sun

A lot happened in the career part of your life last year, Cancer risings in particular (Cancer sun, perhaps this happened to you too) – maybe there was a big change, newfound energy, a disagreement with what you previously thought yourself to be. Or, you know, you just had to completely readjust your professional life because of a global panini. Either way this moon is here to show you that you are on the right track.

It can feel like pursuing your career dreams is pulling you away from home and safety and comfort, but this lunation lights up the fact that your career is a part of yourself that you are deeply committed to, and your home will always be beautiful, always be comfortable, always be there for you.

Leo Rising and Sun

This full moon asks you to consider what a harmonious approach to speak might to do help serve your growth. How gentle tone, considered manner, generous listening will help you learn and ultimately expand. If you are in disagreement at the moment consider your inner diplomat: not an often talked about side of Leo but one that is certainly there regardless.

Watch what happens when you sit back from the front of a conversation and allow it to take place as an observer – and then how rich your contributions can be once you’ve absorbed those observations.

This is a route for reaching out into the world with the autonomy and risk you want, but for doing so latched on to other people for safety instead of aimless drifting into the expanse.

Virgo Rising and Sun

Your own stuff, your own values, your own valuables, your own resources come into focus with this moon, and their relationship with your entanglements to others is shown as an inescapable part of this. When I talk about this part of the natal chart – for you Virgo risings this is the 2nd house of resources and the 8th house of intimacy – I often try to take an anti-capitalist view on it, and speak instead of energy and your values, but for a practical and earthy Virgo person, it might be worth just mentioning: this is money energy right now!

Cross some t-s and dot some lower case j-s around your finances, but also try to let go of things you are invested in that aren’t serving you – financial, emotional, conceptual: this energy encourages you to be a bit brazen in that area, knowing you will be held by your overall cautious.

Libra Rising and Sun

Happy full moon in your sign, Libra! I hope that wherever you are you got to see the lunation as it took place – where I am it was hidden behind clouds but it’s a nice thing to see the full moon in our own sign. For you, Libra, this is a chance to see yourself both as you are and as others see you. Venus and the Sun are together opposing your sign, which is like a mirror being held at a distance for you to see yourself.

Look at your output right now, listen to yourself, read over your conversations – and use these as opportunities to appreciate yourself. There is always room for growth and criticism and self-doubt, but right now is a time for you to celebrate the version of yourself you have grown into while letting go of interpretations that don’t serve you anymore.

Other peoples’ stories of who you are – exes, coworkers, friends, family – matter to you but they aren’t the final story. Look for the common threads of yourself in all versions that you put out there.

Scorpio Rising and Sun

Last night’s full moon might have brought some big dreams to your chart, being as it took place in the part of your chart that is *about your dreams*. It also highlighted that relationships to your daily life. I suspect, especially for you Scorpio risings, that you keep the part of yourself that wants connection very hidden, and put out into the world an image of someone who can do everything by themselves.

This full moon wanted you to let go of that image. This full moon wanted you to know that connections to other people are exactly what allow you to be the autonomous weirdo you love to be.

You can keep those connections close to you but don’t pretend they don’t exist: acknowledge the work your harmonious side does for you and chug move into your daily tasks accordingly.

Sagittarius Rising and Sun

I remember seeing a catch phrase on a package – maybe for a frozen curry? Or spice blend? – that said “spicy up your life!”. One of those really excellent language moments where the not-quite-right way of saying this was in fact way better. I thought about that catch phrase when I came to write your horoscope.

The spicying-up part of your life I am thinking of has to do with your creative expression, and the part that wants to enjoy the succulence and delight of that spice has to do with your communities and friend groups.

Let your creative output be vibrant and energized these days, and let that output be recognized by your friends who will take a look and say ohh that’s nice.

Capricorn Rising and Sun

This full moon was in a part of the chart for Capricorn rising folks that has to do with your career and public recognition, which is a very Capricorn part of the chart. It encourages you to let go of projects you’re done with, but also encourages you to soften and be a little easier on yourself. Venus and the sun want to you take your rest at home, and the moon is asking you to let yourself have some emotions about your work.

It’s ok to be emotionally attached to projects that might be ending. The people that come along with them become part of our life and the thrum of regularity that our work brings us is one of the only things providing a Capricorn with the structure you need.

Hold onto the sense of culmination and accomplishment that comes with a completed project and cheers yourself on the couch.

Aquarius Rising and Sun

An important step in growth is being able to recognize when something that is supposed to help us grow is holding us back: to look and see if our learning experience is helping us expand or hindering us. For Aquarius risings this full moon highlighted the relationship between your growth and your words, how you learn and how you speak, and it encourages you to trust in your own way of forming thought.

Any structure you are a part of that contributes to your growth is a structure where you might be seeing some closure right now: the end of a course, finishing a book, or even closing an emotional chapter that was a huge source of learning for you.

As the sun and Venus warm up your 3rd house of communication, they remind you that you are in charge of your own words, and that no matter how much you want to connect with people, you have to be able to figure out your own way of saying the thing.

Pisces Rising and Sun

I finally get to say to you what I say to any reader who has the full moon in the 8th house: let that shit go. The 8th house is the part of our chart that has to do with our entanglements with others, the shit we are carrying that isn’t our own. I know it’s hard for a Pisces to let go of something but it’s important to note when something isn’t serving you anymore.

If something isn’t serving you, and you can deal with it breaking, drop it. But if you want it to be there to return to once you’re ready, try to place it down gently. If you need it, it’ll be there long term.
