Hollywood is so shamelessly playing to the current generation of 20-somethings’ sense of nostalgia, that my first instinct is to boycott any movie based on a cartoon series from my childhood. The problem is, I really want to see Transformers.
Alvin and the Chipmunks, on the other hand, looks so tragically bad that I should have no problem staying away. Not only do the CGI-rendered Alvin, Simon, and Theodore look far too much like real chipmunks, their voices have no character at all. Plus where are the Chippettes?

Ok, to me Alvin sounds exactly the same as he did in The Chipmunk Adventure movie from ’87, which for sensible 80’s kids is the Messiah of Alvin & Chipmunks nostalgia. They do look horrible though and I’m sure the songs will suck in a bad way this time (just like Funky Town in the preview :).
