February 2022 Horoscopes
Because of Venus’ retrograde and extended stay in Capricorn, much of the astrology for this month will be in the same part of your chart that was activated in January. The planets really do not particularly care about months: they want you to know you aren’t yet done with this Capricorn stuff.
Astrological events this month:
February 1: New Moon in Aquarius, Mercury stations direct / February 2: Imbolc, the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox / February 12-20: Mars-Venus conjunction in Capricorn / February 15: Full Moon in Leo, Mercury ingress back to Aquarius / February 19: Sun ingress to Pisces / February 25: Uranus in Taurus trine Mercury in Capricorn, Mercury exits shadow
In February, Mars and Venus form one of two conjunctions they’ll make at the start of this year, this one in Capricorn from February 12th to the 20th. In March they’ll conjunct again in Aquarius. When I speak to my clients about these planets, I often describe Venus as what’s good for you and Mars as what you’re gonna do anyway. When they are aligned we see a clarity of vision and the energy to enact your values.
In Capricorn, this is at once work energy, but also: integrity, boundary, routine. Fuck January… February is the month for resolutions.
Following up on January’s time of retrograde planets, February becomes a month of action. After February 2nd, all the planets will be direct for the first time in many months, and we get a nice stretch of no retrogrades. Since retrogrades denote a time of introspection, this collective move forwards speaks to me of action. Since this action comes after much deep reflection, this collective move forwards also speaks to me of maintaining our eye on the past.
For Black history/Black futures month, I am reflecting on this astrology as speaking about movement forwards with the past always in our pocket. Much of this months’ astrology is in Saturn-ruled signs, and many astrologers have written or spoken on the connection between Saturn and Black people (see this video, for example, by iJaadee). The connection to the past while imagining futures that could be is both foundation building and imaginative.
I hope this forward-moving astrology can be conducive to healing, growth, and movement.
Joyous imbolc,
Amelia

Aries rising
February is the second month in a row of significant astrology in your 10th house of career, and a revisit to a part of your chart seriously hit in 2020. Venus, now stationed direct here, is joined by Mars, pushing her forwards. What ideas did you have in January that you’re ready to get working on? Any creative projects you went back to that are now ready to be out in the world? Mars and Venus together give you the energy and the vision to get them out there.
February’s full moon in Leo on the 15th, right in the middle of Mars and Venus’ conjunction, takes place in your 5th house of creativity and joy, doubling down on this thematic of your creative expression. Think about what projects are culminating and ready to be expressed, because this month you have great astrology to do so.
Taurus rising
For the second month of 2022 in a row, and echoing the astrology present since 2020, your 9th house of expansion is a hot area. Growth, travel, learning – all fun stuff rendered complex in a pandemic. In January Venus’ retrograde made it possible for you to think about all the projects in this part of your life that had to take a back seat. Perhaps you thought of the courses that got cancelled, trips postponed.
With Mars conjunct Venus this month, he’s come to push her along to give you the energy required to revisit those ideas. They’re not dead in the water, just circumstantially paused.
The full moon in Leo this month happens in your 4th house of home and family. Thinking back to the new moon in Leo in August of 2021, what new things that you started in your home back then are in fruition now? I like the image that in August you brought a new plant into your house, and now it’s bloomed – although that is botanically unlikely, it’s a useful metaphor.
At the very least, buy your home some flowers for the lunation.
Gemini rising
For the second month in a row, your 8th house of entanglement is yet again activated by Venus, now joined by Mars. Sex, death, and taxes – but also therapy, connection, and transformation. These parts of your chart have been majorly hit in general since 2020, and this little connection of Mars and Venus brings some personal awareness to the area.
What forces in your life got started a couple years ago that you now have the personal capacity to deal with? With these two planets here together, you have not only the will but the sense of safety to do so. Cut the ties or dive all the way in.
The full moon in Leo this month happens in your 3rd house of communication. Ironically, that means I can keep things succinct in my interpretation and forecast: just say the thing that is on your mind.
Cancer rising
February of 2022 is yet another month where the part of your chart about one-on-one connection is activated. 2020 saw some big stuff for you happen around partnership—romantic, professional, or social—and Venus’ extended stay in Capricorn gave you an opportunity to heal this area. Now that she has stationed direct and is joined by Mars, whatever reflection and intention you set for yourself here is now being given the kick of energy to become reality. Move forward in your healing, your commitments, your self.
The full moon in Leo this month takes place in your 2nd house of resources. How do you feel proud of your stuff? Cancer risings can be very attached to their physical possessions, and with Leo on your 2nd house you also identify with them. A full moon is a good time to take stock of your stuff, and to let yourself detach from the things you no longer need.
A life process, surely, in more ways than one.
Leo rising
This February might feel like a bit of an extended play on January, as a lot of last month’s astrology comes back into play as Venus stays in your 6th house of day to day routine. This part of your chart was hit big time in 2020, and now that Mars has come to join Venus in her long journey through this house, you have the opportunity to put into action the thoughts that came to you throughout the last month. Any reflection you made on how to improve your health through daily routine during the Venus retrograde can be kick-started with Mars energy now.
The full moon in Leo this month is in your first house of identity. This is wonderful energy for honouring and treating yourself: whatever haircuts or tattooos or clothing purchases you were perhaps putting off during the Venus retrograde (and Omicron wave), the full moon on the 15th is telling you the time is ripe to do them now.
Virgo rising
Last month the Venus retrograde marked the halfway point of a long transit of Venus through your 5th house of fun, joy, and creativity—this month she is joined by Mars, extending the energy and providing the jolt you need to make things into reality. This part of your chart was hit very badly during 2020 (who’s having that much fun in a pandemic and global tire fire?) but Venus and Mars here are reminding you, sweet but nervous Virgo, to simply have fun because it’s actually really good for you.
The full moon in Leo is in your 12th house which has to do with secrets, shadows, and your dreams. Think back to 2020 when Pluto, Jupiter, and Saturn were all together here: some heavy stuff went down in this area of your chart.
Venus and Mars together are giving you the energy to move past it and integrate it. Thank your ancestors for the info.
Libra rising
Last month Venus came to her retrograde in your 4th house of home, peaking her extended ride through this part of your chart: the 4th house is still activated this month with Mars here joining Venus for a little kiss (or a push, as the case may be). This is a chance to integrate and act upon the thoughts you had around home and family last month—whether they be about the physical structure or the people who make it up.
The full moon in Leo takes place in your 11th house of community: can you start to get back to community? How has it changed throughout time? What friends were in your life last summer, in the Leo new moon in August, versus now? What co-workers?
Think of how community serves you, and how you serve it back, while the moon lights up this part of your life.
Scorpio rising
Last month Venus’s extended ride through your 3rd house of communication gave you a chance to reflect on your communication tactics and strategies: this month, her direct movement and conjunction with Mars increase this energy and make palpable some of what you thought about. What is there to say that needs saying? Use your typical seriousness to be true with yourself about what needs to be said.
The full moon in Leo happens in your 10th house of career, bringing to a close projects in your work life or practice that are ready to be put to bed. But this isn’t’ putting something to bed in defeat: this is the joy of knowing that you’ve worked on something, expressed yourself, and are proud of what you have done.
Let the Leo in you come out and share it with the world.
Sagittarius rising
Venus has made a long journey through your 2nd house of possessions and finances, Sag rising, and after that retrograde you might have some details uncovered that need to be brought to light. Thankfully Mars has joined Venus giving you the action you need to deal with any issues that have arisen. Call an accountant, clean out your closet, sort out your books—whatever it is in the physical world that needs dealing with, now is a good time.
The Leo full moon takes place in your 9th house of expansion—what a treat. This is Sagittarius territory. Travel, learning, belief—all of these parts of your life are being greeted with Leo and the Lion’s creative energy. Think about your growth, Sag—think back to the last Leo new moon in August of 2021 and reflect on the growth you’ve made since then.
And if you can’t book an actual trip (sigh) then just plan a dream one—this is Sag’s favorite procrastination activity.
Capricorn rising
Does it still feel so sweet? All this time of Venus in your sign? She’s still helping you out, Capricorn, and now that she’s been joined by Mars her predisposition for the finer things in life is being met with the energy to get them. Take all the care of yourself that you want.
Whatever it means to you to honour your identity, your image, and your interactions, then do so. Let your guard down around yourself because the planets are there to help you out.
The full moon in Leo is taking place in your 8th house of entanglement and transformation – big big energy, Leo. Let yourself let it go. Drop what you are holding. Find the things that are not yours to carry and simply let them be: you don’t need to hang onto it any longer.
Aquarius rising
For two months in a row much of the big astrology has been in your 12th house of dreams, Aquarius rising. We’re coming into a lot of time with the planets in your own sign, which will be a nice treat of energy, but for now your shadows are being shown to you. What are your dreams communicating? What do they need you to know? Pay attention so you can use that information to your advantage come March when Venus and Mars move into your sign together.
The full moon in leo is in your 7th house of one-on-one partnership. Perhaps there is a dynamic with a close friend, partner, or lover that needs to be let go of – perhaps it is a relationship itself. Whatever it is, the energy is present for you to allow something to culminate. To appreciate it for what it has given you and let it move on.
This doesn’t have to mean a breakup or anything so dramatic, it can be a little internal thing or it can be something as mundane as a stupid fight about the dishes: whatever it is, when the full moon on Leo lights up your 7th house, you can let it go however you need.
Pisces rising
For two months the part of your chart having to do with community has been sweetened by Venus: her retrograde brought much introspection to this sweetness, and Mars joining her here now direct is giving you the energy to make that introspection real. Can you actually see your friends if it’s safe to do so? Can you dig yourself out of a pit of nostalgia and reconnect with someone on the phone if not in person?
Make your friends and community a priority this month: Venus wants you to and Mars is making you.
The full moon on the 15th is in your 6th house of day to day life. What daily occurrence no longer serves you? A bad habit you’ve picked up? A resolution that isn’t sticking? Let go of any routine that isnt’ doing what it needs to in favour of making space for those that do.
