We are excited to share this new music from legendary singer/songwriter Jimmy Somerville (Bronski Beat, the Communards). Jimmy is best known for the Bronski Beat hit “Smalltown Boy” as well as his impeccable and original covers of disco classics like “Don’t Leave Me This Way” and “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real).”
Now Jimmy has made his own disco record of original music, and the lead single “Travesty” sounds mighty real to us. In his words:
“I’ve finally made the disco album I always wanted to and never thought I could. If I was 15 again I’d buy it, sit on my bed, slowly open the gate-fold, slide out the vinyl, place it on the turntable then jump off the bed and imagine someone just passed me a tambourine…I’d be in heaven! The horns, the strings, the bass, the guitars, the drums, the backing vocals and the melody….the escape. So open your ears embrace the groove and pay homage to an all too easily derided sound … I LOVE Disco!”
You can purchase “Travesty” on October 28 from all major digital retailers. The new album Homage will be out next year.
Sounds great! Looking fwd to it. This is the disco album I was told Daft Punk’s last record would be, which turned out to be a snooze.
