The worm turns! Popeater is now reporting a rumor that Jay Leno is also considering leaving NBC along with Conan.
Sources close to former ‘Tonight Show’ host Jay Leno tell me he is furious with the way NBC has treated him and Conan O’Brien and is considering walking away from the entire mess with his head held high. “Now that Conan has made it clear he is leaving the troubled network, Jay is considering doing the same. They have put Jay in a terrible position. It looks like he is the reason that Conan is now without a job. Jay is a great guy and it’s not fair that due to NBC’s stupidity he looks like the bad guy,” a TV insider tells me.
What will NBC do if both of its stars forsake it? Since I’m sure OMG readers are way smarter than television executives, I’ll let you guys make the big decision as to who should take over the Tonight Show:

This is PR spin. I agree with “Mavis Leno” above. Jay stayed with NBC exactly so that he would have a quicker way in should his 10pm venture fail. Well, and also because he must think if he keeps working he will never die. Nobody understand why he won’t go away and enjoy his millions.
I thought about this last night, and think that Leno needs to hang it up too. He has become the punching bag in all this, although it is not his fault. The blame seems to be falling on him, when it was all the NBC upper echelon’s dumb decisions. I am not team Leno, but, contract allowing, think he should walk. If he retakes the Tonight Show, his credibility will be shot. It might be noted, with all the power that Carson had, he retired due to mounting pressure. As for the sanctity of “The Tonight Show” – controversies and changes have been made through the years. Jack Paar walked off the show for an extended period of time due to censorship, Carson changed it from a 90 minute format, to a 60 minute format and later did a four night a week program, with Monday’s being “The Best of Carson”. When Leno took it over, reruns were introduced when he vacationed and a sidekick was eliminated. The Tonight Show is name only. As a side note – watching Letterman last night, made me see how bitter of an old man he has become, especially when it comes to Leno.
I was believing this until I read the “Jay is a great guy…” part. Anyone who actually knows him knows Jay Leno is a complete douche.
Ummmm, the fact that [evil right wing] Comcast Cable company is using their customer’s $$ to purchase NBC….
a question that should be posed is: is Comcast already calling the shots and/or having the current staff make these stupid decisions?
I hope this turns out to be true. It would serve NBC right if they had to proceed with guest hosts for a year while losing ground.
