We haven’t written much about our favorite Irish pop star Róisín Murphy lately, but that will likely change in the near future. The singer recently revealed in a magazine interview that her new album is almost ready and that the music will come from a “deeper place” than her 2008 LP, Overpowered.
In the meantime, Róisín has lent her vocal talents to two stellar dance tracks: producer Toddla T’s limited-edition Record Store Day release “Cherry Picking” and “Boadicea” by Dutch dance duo Mason. The latter has been out for a while but it now has an official music video — a drab, overwrought poverty porn revenge fantasy that plays more like the director’s feature film audition than a considered music video. If you’re into hot chicks with guns then give it a whirl, if not then just cop the song and add it to your summer playlist.
p.s. Dear UK readers: If you accidentally purchased extra copies of the “Cherry Picking” 12-inch and want to find loving new homes for them, please get in touch!!!
Nah bollocks! video is too much for the music. Never mix dance/pop with deep shit i.e, domestic violence WTF… how could that work? pop and dance shit = e and good times not real world drama, leave that to the blues baby!
I LOVED the last album (Rhianna who? Gaga what?), not so loving the new stuff; guess I’m superficial…. Good luck w/the deep, my dearest, I thought You Knew Me Better.
