I just saw Cyndi Lauper perform in the True Colors Tour a couple weeks ago and was completely enthralled and blown away by the show. Her voice sounds better now that it did twenty years ago, and she has so much energy: running and dancing around the stage, getting down in the crowd, and emoting the hell out of every song. Plus she sang all my favorites in addition to some new songs from her latest “Bring Ya to the Brink” album (I got teary hearing “When You Were Mine” and “I Drove All Night”).
It was the best live show I’ve seen in a long time. If you have the opportunity to check out True Colors before it winds down on July 5, GO GO GO.
The video above is for “Into the Nightlife,” the first single off her new album that has gay anthem written all over it, as Cyndi is obviously aware since the video was shot at New York City’s Splash Bar and features a cameo by gay porn star Colton Ford.
I saw her perform in a wheelchair about 6 years ago…she was great! Im diggin the new song…
Yeah, for some reason hearing “I Drove All Night” at that show made me ridiculously happy … not sure why, but that was totally a highlight.
I’ve always been a fan of Cyndi and saw her perform at House of Blues…like you said, she’s absolutely amazing!!!!! Blew me away too. I love love love her! 🙂
Awesome. I saw True Colors last night. B-52s are amazing live. And don’t even get me started on Cyndi. I had seen her open for Cher’s farewell tour, and I went to the True Colors Tour last year too. She is simply spectacular.
Super! Buying the vid now from iTunes . . .
loves her!
