Carine Roitfeld‘s surprise announcement today that she has resigned as editor in chief of Vogue Paris will no doubt put a damper on many fashionistas’ holiday spirit, but in an industry where everything changes so drastically every six months, shouldn’t we look forward to something fresh?

“It’s 10 years that I’m editor of the magazine,” Ms. Roitfeld, one of the most influential editors in the fashion business, said in a telephone interview. “I think it’s time to do something different.”
