For the premiere post, British rocker Ebony Bones remembers Six Degrees of Separation, the painfully-Nineties movie that die-hard Will Smith fans often cite as one of The Legend of Bagger Vance star’s most non-lame films. In it, Stockard Channing and Donald Sutherland play an extremely irritating rich white couple with nothing better to do than the New York Times crossword puzzle. One day, they discover Will Smith boning another man in their Upper East Side apartment.
“He plays this gay con-man who gets caught shagging,” says Bones. “Er… I thought, nice bum Will.”

I saw Six Degrees at the Guthrie. Here’s some trivia about that scene: It’s possible to portray it with acting that doesn’t completely suck. In fact, the line about the gun can, in extreme circumstances, get a laugh.
