A nice addition to the soundtrack for a summer in remission is Cheatahs, a new project by Canadian-born, London-based bedroom rocker Nathan Hewitt. Not only does he make lovely lo-fi guitar pop, Hewitt also wears adorable sweaters and designs his own record sleeves, which sometimes feature photos of his pet cat. Listen to the song “Some Powers” below. If you like what you hear, Cheatahs has also released a 7-inch single and posted a few more tracks on MySpace.

Cheatahs’ new video “Warriors” is also really good. Canadian readers that grew up in the ’80s should note that it was inspired by CBC kids show Fred Penner’s Place.
