“Barbie’s Dreamhouse is no place for the bashful. “There are no walls and no doors,” says Greta Gerwig via email. “Dreamhouses assume that you never have anything you wish was private—there is no place to hide.”
We love! Designed by production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer, both have previously worked on films like as Pride & Prejudice and Anna Karenina. Apparently, maintaining the kid quality was important to Greta’s vision as she wanted to recapture the feelings of why she loved Barbie so much as a child. The color pink was also another key factor and they ran out in the US, so the team had to order from around the globe. They could have saved a lot of money if they’d just shot at the Trixie Motel.
