Andreas Ricci in 2018’s ’11:23-09:59 Projekt Angst’ follows six students who venture into an abandoned military bunker in the Swiss Alps to document a series of courage tests. By 9:59 the following morning, every one of them is dead. It’s a premise as clean and brutal as the genre demands, and the found footage format — set in an abandoned military base, filmed in German — gives it a claustrophobic, documentary texture that’s harder to fake than big-budget horror tends to be.
