New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius
Sometimes when I write these horoscopes, I look at the astrology of the coming weeks and dig around for stuff to write about. Maybe there’s an aspect of interest, or a planet changing signs. The challenge is to dig in and see what might be resonant and potent.
Then sometimes there is so much going on, and so much being written about, that I hardly know where to begin.
With that said, I recently made this meme:
The events of the next two weeks, astrologically speaking, contain one of the bigger events of the year, the conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn.
Part of why this event is getting so much attention is that it is also of astronomical interest: Jupiter and Saturn are visible in the sky, and together will be a big bright star. It’s often written that the star that guided the three wise men to bb jeebus was actually a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn; so science bros and astrology nerds are all getting their nut over this event.
These two planets haven’t been this close together since the 1600s, and their conjunction also marks their movement into Aquarius (they are finally, finally, finally getting out of Capricorn).
This astrology speaks to endings and beginnings, appropriate for the end of our calendar year, to let us wrap up and mourn while also looking forward.
Sooner up is the new moon and solar eclipse in Sagittarius. I’ve written lots about eclipses this year, including in the most recent full moon in Gemini as it was also a lunar eclipse: they are at once common and incredible, events that happen all the time and which have long been said to herald major events.
But major events, like eclipses, happen all the time. We have certainly learned that lesson this year. And then on the other hand, sometimes huge things happen in our life with no connection to astrological goings-on. Significant astrological events can pass without much of a moment.
Many people are coming to me worried about this conjunction, this eclipse season, what’s going to happen, what it’s going to mean. I am advising everyone, and reminding myself, to prepare yourself by not panicking.
Aquarius is the sign of the future. It’s about freedom, it’s about truth, it’s about innovation. Sagittarius is another freedom-loving sign, about expansion, adventure, justice. These signs activated together are bringing me hope and a sense of excitement of what is to come.
Head into that future by reminding yourself that huge stuff has been happening all year and that you’re still here, lived through it, wiser, cooler. Recently my sister, an Aries and an athlete, referred to some emotional pain and growth I went through this year as “gains” and I can’t stop thinking about that. Channel the gym bro and look at how you come out of turmoil with that level of confidence. It’s all just gains.
This lunation’s horoscopes are written from me, to you, quite directly, and focus on the part of your chart activated by the eclipse and the great conjunction.
