!! OMG Stars: New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius, December, 2020 !!

OMG Stars by Amelia EhrhardtNew Moon and Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius

Sometimes when I write these horoscopes, I look at the astrology of the coming weeks and dig around for stuff to write about. Maybe there’s an aspect of interest, or a planet changing signs. The challenge is to dig in and see what might be resonant and potent.

Then sometimes there is so much going on, and so much being written about, that I hardly know where to begin.

With that said, I recently made this meme:

The events of the next two weeks, astrologically speaking, contain one of the bigger events of the year, the conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn.

Part of why this event is getting so much attention is that it is also of astronomical interest: Jupiter and Saturn are visible in the sky, and together will be a big bright star. It’s often written that the star that guided the three wise men to bb jeebus was actually a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn; so science bros and astrology nerds are all getting their nut over this event.

These two planets haven’t been this close together since the 1600s, and their conjunction also marks their movement into Aquarius (they are finally, finally, finally getting out of Capricorn).

This astrology speaks to endings and beginnings, appropriate for the end of our calendar year, to let us wrap up and mourn while also looking forward.

Sooner up is the new moon and solar eclipse in Sagittarius. I’ve written lots about eclipses this year, including in the most recent full moon in Gemini as it was also a lunar eclipse: they are at once common and incredible, events that happen all the time and which have long been said to herald major events.

New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius astrologyBut major events, like eclipses, happen all the time. We have certainly learned that lesson this year. And then on the other hand, sometimes huge things happen in our life with no connection to astrological goings-on. Significant astrological events can pass without much of a moment.

Many people are coming to me worried about this conjunction, this eclipse season, what’s going to happen, what it’s going to mean. I am advising everyone, and reminding myself, to prepare yourself by not panicking.

Aquarius is the sign of the future. It’s about freedom, it’s about truth, it’s about innovation. Sagittarius is another freedom-loving sign, about expansion, adventure, justice. These signs activated together are bringing me hope and a sense of excitement of what is to come.

Head into that future by reminding yourself that huge stuff has been happening all year and that you’re still here, lived through it, wiser, cooler. Recently my sister, an Aries and an athlete, referred to some emotional pain and growth I went through this year as “gains” and I can’t stop thinking about that. Channel the gym bro and look at how you come out of turmoil with that level of confidence. It’s all just gains.

This lunation’s horoscopes are written from me, to you, quite directly, and focus on the part of your chart activated by the eclipse and the great conjunction.

Horoscopes are written using whole house calculations and are meant as inspiration and affirmation of what you already know. They are written for both sun and rising signs, but specific information is calculated for the rising signs. You can also read the horoscope for your moon sign for extra emotional information. Aries and Aries rising

You’ve learned a lot about yourself this year. You’ve had to face some fire and some conflict, and you’ve had to face peoples’ expectations of you in a way that has possibly harmed your self-image. But at the same time you’ve been met with a kind of confidence, a clarity of will that cannot be dampened by doubt.

When Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius they move into the 11th house of community for Aries risings. Invite your community back into your life. Hope for a future where gatherings can happen, where you can be with friends, with family, with groups, outdoors, indoors. Where you can take the hard work you have made on your career over the past two and a half years forwards into groups and receive recognition, but where you can also set your work aside and have comfort in community.

Use this solar eclipse to plan for your growth. Commit yourself to the things you need to learn, using what you have accomplished this year as a groundwork. Be inspired by the support of this fellow fire energy and allow yourself to think a little bigger in the future you want to be a part of.

Taurus and Taurus rising

You are such a source of comfort to those around you. Although you might have an inner experience more impassioned than is let on by your chill exterior, that dichotomy doesn’t make the inner experience any less rich. Just because you don’t always want to communicate it doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

When Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius they are moving into your tenth house of career. This upcoming transit will mean a lot for your career growth and development, and for asserting your individuality in this area of your life.

Use this solar eclipse to let go of drama, trauma, and tension that you don’t need. There is always shit that we are carrying and which doesn’t belong to us: identify what you have picked up in the past that wasn’t yours to deal with and which you can get rid of.

Gemini and Gemini rising

You can count on other people. you can rely on those closest to you to help you grow, help you learn what you need to learn. Your friends and social groups have been one of your greatest assets this year, so stay thankful and appreciative of those you call community.

As Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius, they move into the ninth house of expansion for Gemini rising readers. This transit will be about dreaming big and buckling down hard. Using education to help expand your world view, gaining some discipline about your personal development. Take your own particular perspective on how to dream big and use it to assert your independence.

Use this solar eclipse to see a new way forward in your one-on-one partnerships.  Grow as a partner: let go of old ways of approaching partnership and move into ones that are expansive, loving, and fun.

Cancer and Cancer rising

You are gonna be ok. There’s been a lot of change for you this year, and a lot of it has hit you where you hurt and been of threat to your closest partnerships. This rockiness, astrologically speaking, is moving out of aspect from your sign now and you can take these challenges forwards as sources of growth.

As Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius, they move into the eight house of transformation for Cancer rising readers. A transit of slow-moving planets in this part of your chart makes sure you will grow. That you will create stronger boundaries in your sexual relationships. That you will believe in your own capacity to get out a bad situation. That you will be able to rely on intimacy as a source of power.

Use this solar eclipse to bolster your health. Allow yourself a lot of rest around the eclipse days and take extra good care of your body. I read recently that people who spend more time on personal hygiene have lower reported levels of anxiety and depression: if ever there was a time to take a good cleansing bath, this would be it.

Leo and Leo Rising

You are energized by opportunity. You can use creative expression to your full potential and growth as a means of developing your full potential. You don’t need anyone to tell you what you already know: you have been doing hot girl shit.

As Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius, they enter the seventh house of partnership for Leo rising readers. This transit indicates a period of your life that will be characterized by refining your closest relationships. Assert boundaries that help you maintain your sense of individuality in a partner, but believe in the opportunities that partnership gives you. Boundaries don’t have to mean shutting someone out: seeking the combination of these two things will be the best strategy for you as these gas giants traverse this part of your chart.

Use this solar eclipse to express yourself. Find a way to get creative, use it to say something that you need people to hear, and decide whether or not to share it. Have fun with what you make, be quick and impulsive about it, and do it to grow.

Virgo and Virgo rising

You can let drop what you don’t need. A wonderful metaphor when dealing with too much of anything is to figure out what you are dealing with is a rubber ball and what is a glass ball: the projects, the people, the emails, that you can’t drop are the glass ones, and some are rubber and will bounce back. Some relationships survive a moment of pause, some projects deal well with being walked away from, and some don’t. Care for yourself by telling the difference.

As Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius, they enter the sixth house of health and day-to-day life for Virgo rising readers. This transit is an opportunity to create healthy habits. A good chance to make taking are of yourself just part of what you do. It doesn’t have to look like what it looks like for everyone else: if you hate meditating and don’t like skincare, then find whatever it is that for you is a caring and healthy habit. It’s about creating the habit and believing in it more than anything.

Use this solar eclipse to invest in the home you want to live in. Whether this is investing with energy, decorating, or money doesn’t make a difference, but what does make a difference is that you recognize your home as a space of both comfort but also growth for yourself.

Libra and Libra rising

You can relax. Any challenges to your identity that you’ve been facing this year due to difficulties in partnership or at home are on their way out, and new opportunities are coming up. Moving forwards you can focus on yourself and your voice.

As Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius, they enter the fifth house of creative expression for Libra rising readers. This transit will bring a focus on fun to your life. The fifth house is about joy, and the kind of joy that can come along with making things. If you have a professional artistic practice, this is a great time to take up a creative hobby other than your work. This is for you and for fun, so don’t conflate it with your professional profile. Hobbies are wonderful.

Use this solar eclipse to say what’s on your mind, but not to the expense of relationships. You might feel particularly charged to say the immediate fiery thing that comes up in an argument, especially if it’s in partnership, but your expression be a source of growth for both of you, and not just a matter of a soapbox for you.

Scorpio and Scorpio rising

You have what you need. In order for us to get along in this world, to keep from drowning under the weight of our own possessions, we need to take greater stock of what we already have and put it to use. Recycling is transformation, and no part of the zodiac is better suited to this than you, Scorpio.

As Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius, they move into your fourth house of home. This coming transit gives you opportunities to really think about your home, the things in it, and your relationship to it. How can your home be a source of freedom? Of curiosity? How can it be a place for group gatherings someday while also a source of community discipline right now in our current context?

This eclipse asks you to reuse not only the stuff in your house but all of your resources: your energy, your values, your relationships. How can you revisit the old in order to use it anew? Apply these principles of sustainability to everything you “have” in order to recognize how rich in resources you are.

Sagittarius and Sagittarius rising

You know yourself. You have a deep side of yourself that is confident and curious, no matter your other experiences of the world. You can feel confident moving into a time of growth and expansion that growth and expansion are exactly where you’re comfortable.

As Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius, they move into the third house of communication for Sagittarius risings. Aquarius and Sagittarius are signs that get along; signs that goad each other in the fight for freedom, careen each other along in the muddy pursuit of knowledge. The next year will contain unique opportunities for developing and refining your sense of what you want to say and how you say it. If you have any Aquarius placements in your chart they’ll be stimulated by Jupiter and Saturn, reinforcing this thematic.

This eclipse in your sign is a reminder that to keep knowing yourself, you have to listen to yourself. Keep listening to the new needs that are emerging, keep noticing ways that your identity is shifting. Let identity be fluid and mutable, and let your encounters with the world be a source of growth.

Capricorn and Capricorn rising

You are finally through it. You have worked and pushed and had to maintain a careful discipline to accomplish a long-standing task this year, and through grit and determination you’ve made it happen. Whether this was a matter of personal importance, professional development, or emotional growth, this year has put you through the ringer.

As Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius, they move into the second house of resources for Capricorn risings. Take stock of your energy. Let yourself rest after the year you’ve had and create a structure around it. Rest and recuperation of your energetic resources needs to be a major thematic in your life as you leave this heavy Capricorn energy behind, and being as disciplined about rest as you are about work could serve your growth moving forwards.

Use this solar eclipse to dream of what that rest might look like. This eclipse is great energy for you literally to sleep. To be alone and drift into one of those weird afternoon naps that takes you on a journey through space-time and leaves you feeling like you’ve woken up next week. Let your dreams be the source of hope and growth that you need right now and pay attention to them as you engage in extra amounts of healing sleep.

Aquarius and Aquarius rising

You’ve been preparing for this. You’re ready to grow and define yourself on your own terms, and you are ready to do it alone if need be. The last two and a half years of deep inner work you’ve been doing are culminating, and the work you have done on clarifying your communication style (possibly through anger) has served you.

When Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius they enter your first house of identity for Aquarius risings. Your space of identity, of determination, of you. You get to read a lot about yourself in horoscopes for the next year, and everyone talking about the Age of Aquarius is gonna be a pretty literal way to experience this shift. Bring your sense of individuality forwards and do not let anyone’s sense of what you should be change your knowledge of who you are.

Use this solar eclipse to release social dynamics that aren’t healthy for you anymore. Grow in your sense of community, in your sense of collective, and let go of interactions that feel unjust. This is the time to focus on expanding your world view via the people around you, and to feel a sense of hope that your community can support you in your development.

Pisces and Pisces rising

You’ve had some energizing opportunities this year. It’s demanded that you stand up to face what groups of people think about you, and how you experience self-doubt as a part of that. It’s demanded that you take your sensitive self into the world with a bit more power. And it’s demanded that you fight for what is yours.

When Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius they will move into  Pisces Risings’ 12th house of dreams. This is Pisces territory. Pisces always goes deep: this allows you to go deeper. But it also brings the opportunity for you to make some sense of this part of your life. Bring some discipline to your dreams. Let the inside out. Dreaming doesn’t just have to be introspection and inner work. It can also be about looking at where in your life your dreams need to be manifested.

Use this solar eclipse to let go of career woes. Stop worrying about what didn’t happen and take stock of what did: what has brought you pride, what has changed you and helped you grow, and what you can use as you move forward from here.
