“I’m really proud this film is coming out on December 1st, World AIDS Day, in honour of Uncle Johnny,” said Beyoncé last night at the Premiere of RENAISSANCE: A Film by Beyoncé.
Bey’s Uncle Johnny died of complications from AIDS when she was 17. He has served as a driving force behind the project and when the album was released in July 2022, the singer dedicated it to him in a statement shared to her website.
“A big thank you to my uncle Johnny,” Beyoncé wrote at the time. “He was my godmother and the first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration to this album. Thank you to all of the pioneers who originate culture, to all of the fallen angels whose contributions have gone unrecognized for far too long. This is a celebration for you.”
And SURPRISE! The superstar released a new track along with the film today titled MY HOUSE. Find it after the jump! Happy Friday.
