Fascinating! I think he is right, this movie would not happen with two straight men today and it shouldn’t but at the time, he did pave the way for the ability of queer actors to get roles. And now we have so many famous queer actors. Back then, there were so few!
Fun thought experiment, who would play Jack and Ennis if the movie was being made today? I’m going to say Johnny Sibilly as Jack and Scott Evans as Ennis.
