You may have never heard of Jonzun Crew, but apparently in their time they were immortalized by a block long mural on the Berlin Wall. But, you know, that’s gone too now!
Thankfully they left a few gems to be rediscovered, like the oddball electro track Space Cowboy.
Their 1983 debut album ‘Lost in Space’ brought George Clinton‘s Parliament and Funkadelic sci-fi afro-futurist themes into the electro era. But unlike most electro acts, they played their synthesizers live, used a drum kit rather than a track, and worked off each other like a band—all of which accounts for their signature spaced-out electrofunk sound.
