Kat Duma has just announced her second album, Lullaby, arriving May 22nd. Duma’s debut, Real Life (2023) felt both lo-fi and cinematic, and positioned Kat as the one to watch for Queen of late night/early morning comedown anthems, and the perfect soundtrack to bleached out hazy summer afternoons.
The Serbian-Canadian musician, producer, and DJ also shared the second single off the record, Mirrored Water, which follows the recent drop of the album’s title track.
Mirrored Water arrives alongside a spooky video directed and animated by Geoffrey Scott, which finds Duma exploring an ethereal, moonlit, Brothers Grimm-like fairytale forest.
When speaking about the song in a press release, she explains:
“Mirrored Water was partially inspired by time spent in the Sagano area of Kyoto, walking through temple grounds where the landscape was reflected cleanly in still, black pools…my attention kept drifting beneath the surface. That impulse became the core of the song. The feeling of identifying more with what’s underneath than with what’s being reflected so perfectly above.”
Check out the video and see what she discovers below the surface!
