Pop auteur band Mear is back with a beautiful new single and video for “Empty Pages,” made in collaboration with celebrated choreographer Karen Kaeja.
The video was conceived, directed and choreographed by Karen Kaeja with cinematography and editing by Olya Glotka. The video features a captivating solo performance by Mio Sakamoto, a Toronto-based dancer originally from Japan, filmed across two breathtaking landscapes: The icy expanses of Iceland and the South Bruce Peninsula. The visuals were inspired by Kaeja’s TouchX dance performance content, a project that was developed for the Harbourfront Centre’s TORQUE International Contemporary Dance Series in Toronto.
Set against these dramatic natural backdrops, “Empty Pages” explores entrapment and transformation; where emotions freeze, thaw, and ultimately fight to breathe again; a meditation on the presence and absence of touch, connection, and memory.
