The final video from pop duo Mear‘s album Soft Chains is an animated, introspective fantasy created by artist Kerry Zentner (@kerryzentnerart) for their single “Words.”
Frances Miller, one half of Mear, describes the genesis of the song:
“Words” is a song from our debut album Soft Chains. I wrote the song from the perspective of my younger self. Although my family wasn’t particularly religious, I absorbed a lot of the religious teachings in church for better or for worse. I think eventually most people realize it’s next to impossible to live up to all the heavy, confusing expectations placed in front of you as a young person. This song explores some of the tension that comes from feeling like you don’t measure up.
