Mear‘s Frances Miller directed the video for “The Flood,” the first single from her Flood EP, and it’s a breathless run from the beach to the woods. Featuring a nuanced performance by twelve-year-old Eileen Cahill, the video brings the young protagonist to a forest cabin where she meets the monster of her nightmares, but then what? The song builds slowly to a peak where Miller is almost shouting her message to the listener: There is pleasure to be found in taking risks.
