!! OMG, Grindr set to host its first White House correspondents’ dinner party !!

Grindr is joining the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner weekend for the first time, adding its own event to the already packed slate of Washington parties ahead of the April 25 gala. The app’s inaugural “White House Correspondents’ Dinner Weekend Party” is set for the night before the main event in Georgetown, with organizers saying it will “bring together policymakers, journalists, and LGBTQ community leaders for a toast to the First Amendment.”

Hunnie – the first amendment? In this economy?!

In a statement, Grindr’s head of global government affairs, Joe Hack, framed the event as more than just another party stop. “Grindr represents a global community with real stakes in Washington. The issues being debated here — HIV funding, privacy and online safety, LGBTQ+ family rights — are daily life for our community,” he said. He added,

“Nobody does connections like Grindr, and WHCD weekend is the most iconic place in the country to make them. We figured it was time to host.”

The move lands as Grindr continues to position itself as a broad tent for LGBTQ users across the political spectrum. Last year, CEO George Arison said the platform aims to be “a place that is welcoming to everybody” regardless of politics, adding that

“people who are gay should be welcome on Grindr and we want them to have a really good experience.”

This year’s correspondents’ dinner is also expected to draw extra attention with Donald Trump saying he plans to attend after skipping the event throughout his first term.

  1. Considering Grindr crashes whenever there is a Republican convention or a Turning Point USA gathering it makes sense Grindr is going to make it’s debut at the White House Correspondents Dinner with so many Republican users of Grindr in attendance.

  2. Dear Mr Joe Hack, Grindr’s head of global government affairs,
    You do NOT represent me!
I’ve never been on grinder, I didn’t vote for you I have to idea who you are.
How dare you say you “represent” my community? Bull shit! You represent the for-profit company that pays you – that is all! Do not assume you speak for me or anyone else please.
