Macklemore is naming names! After the Israeli-American Council petition and Pink‘s silent repost, he broke his own silence on Instagram, saying Robert Kraft called Ed Sheeran directly after the Gaza speech at MetLife and told him Gillette Stadium was off the table if Macklemore stayed on the bill.
He says Kraft didn’t stop there, working other stadium owners into the same ultimatum until Sheeran was staring down a tour with no venues left to play. Sheeran, according to Macklemore, called the Palestinian imagery upsetting to people close to him and stuck to calling himself neutral. Macklemore’s answer: there is no neutral position on what’s happening in Gaza. He still says he hopes thirteen years of friendship survives one stadium owner’s phone calls.
