Every month, our music editor ED curates a special selection of newly released music for the OMG Playlist on Spotify (follow us @omgblog).

OMG, happy October! By this time, we’ve embraced the fallen leaves, and the familiar cold breeze. We’ve curated a playlist of best new releases, for you to enjoy alongside these simple pleasures of the Fall.

This month we’ve seen a solo debut from Romy, who is famously known for being 1/3 of the English indie electronic group, The XX. Unlike a typical gloomy, slow song from The XX, “Lifetime” is dancier, gleeful, and more upbeat. Romy sings “If the world ends / I wanna be there with you,” leaving the listener both melanchonic and euphoric at once.

Eris Drew, high priestess of the Motherbeat, is back with a new electronic-house track that is sure to have you bopping. Play this during a dance break while you’re working from home — Astral project through the shrieks and synths and listen to Eris Drew say, “Don’t you know for sure, its not the end?”. Although uncertain, it’s a sentiment we should choose to believe until we can collectively re-ignite our spirits on a real dance floor.

October signifies spooky season, and what epitomizes spooky more than a new Coco Rosie track? With features from other unearthly artists like Brooke Candy, Anohni, Big Freedia, and Cakes Da Killa, “End of Freakshow” will make you feel like you’re summoning an evil (disco) demon.
