!! OMG, quote of the day: Dwight from ‘The Office’ recalls being mostly unhappy on ‘The Office’ !!

“When I was in The Office, I spent several years really mostly unhappy because it wasn’t enough. I’m on one of the great TV shows. People love it. I wasn’t enjoying it. I was thinking about, ‘Why am I not a movie star? Why am I not the next Jack Black or the next Will Ferrell?…

How come I can’t have a movie career? Why don’t I have this development deal?’ When I was on The Office…I was making hundreds of thousands. I wanted millions. I was a TV star, but I wanted to be a movie star. It was never enough.”

– The Office star Rainn Wilson aka ‘Dwight’, speaking in an interview with Bill Maher for the Club Random podcast about his frustrations during a time when his costar Steve Carell was starring as lead character Michael Scott and had breakout roles in the likes of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Get Smart.

  1. Source for this quote?

  2. Why didn’t you have a development deal? Why weren’t you paid millions? You where a character actor doing a background supporting role. You were basically a punctuation mark in a TV series script. There are literally thousands of actors in the history of TV in the same situation. What you lack is perspective on just what your role was in that context and that show. At least you were paid “hundreds of thousands.”
