!! OMG, quote of the day: Sharon Stone says speaking out about AIDS destroyed her career !!

“I had no idea of the resistance, cruelty, hate and oppression that we would face … “I stayed for 25 years until we had AIDS remedies being advertised on TV like we have aspiri. It did destroy my career…

I didn’t work for eight years. I was told if I said condom again, funding would be removed. I was threatened repeatedly, my life was threatened, and I decided I had to stick with it.”

– Actress Sharon Stone, on her charity work and vocal AIDS activism.

  2. Yeah, because NOBODY in Hollywood cared about AIDS except the lady who’s famous for not wearing panties in a dirty movie and not much else.

  3. I think Stone’s acting destroyed her career, not AIDS activism. Elizabeth Taylor made five TV movies and two feature films in the years after she became the face and voice in the battle. And she likely would have worked more if her health hadn’t begun to decline precipitously after 1994. Funny–Taylor not only said “condom” she was photographed holding one on the cover of Vanity Fair.

  4. It was mofre likely one too many bad movie choices and bad acting that destroyed her career. Or maybe it was that gawdawful Gloria remake, Luckily the remake didn’t ruin the classic Gloria from 1980 starring Gena Rowlands.
