Jax… few quick questions. What is the felony Trump committed? If he had actually incited an “insurrection” shouldn’t that be the felony? The “felony” he was charged with after 4 years of having the DOJ up his butt was incorrectly recording a hush money payment as a “legal expense” in his own internal accounting documents which didn’t need to be filed with any external agency. The only reason they were even able to call it a crime was by claiming it was to cover up another felony that they refused to name for the entire trial. He didn’t even know what he was supposed to be defending himself against. He was up a against an activist judge, activ8st DA, and a jury in a district that voted something like 97% for Biden.
Back to the insurrection, do you think Trump actually tried to overthrow the government by having a group of unarmed people march to a building that’s normally open to the public? Did all of those violent MAGA second ammendment rights enthusiasts just forget to bring their guns that day? They also forget to kill anyone that day? Would it have made a difference to democracy if they had? Would they have crowned the Q-anon shaman king of America? I seriously doubt it.
I imagine that the reason conservatives vote for people who have a different morality from themselves is because they have extremely limited options and have to figure out which candidate is going to push policies that most cloesly align with their personal values. It’s policy over personality, and that’s if they bother voting at all. Most of the super religious people tend to not turn out on voting day.
Trump was in office for 4 years, he went into office supporting gay marriage, in that time he did nothing that would effect gay rights nor has he ever indicated that he would. There is currently a supreme court ruling AND a constitutional ammendment supporting federal gay marriage. Trump couldn’t undo it if he wanted to… which he has made very clear he does not. He even had a gay wedding at his house not that long ago.
Even if it were true, Democratic politicians don’t really care about us either. They want us too afraid to vote against them, and use minority groups as a bulwark against any legitimate criticism of their greed, corruption and blatant power grabs. It is the party of billionaires, warmongers, and extreme authoritarianism. They are currently doing more harm to LGB people than good. They support policies that promote the sterilization and mutilation of gay and lesbian youth on the basis of gender sterotypes. I’d rather not vote for that.

I get some news from Fox but most of it comes from Youtube. I watch about 40 hours of Youtube a week, at least half of that is political content (probably a lot more). I also read some news articles here and there.
I have yet to see a specific threat to my rights from Trump, I’ve seen several abuses of power from the left.
