!! OMG, a history lesson: Cat photos through the years !!

We here at !! omgblog !! are only one of many in a long line of feline photo appreciators — beginning, it seems, with English photographer Harry Pointer, who in the late 19th century snapped all kinds of quirky kitty photos for his series “Brighton Cats.” Like many cat enthusiasts, Pointer began his career by focusing on naturalistic shots before inevitably moving into the wild world of elaborately produced pussy spreads (read: absurd poses and costumes). He was followed by Harry Whittier Frees, who expanded into shooting all sorts of gussied-up animals, from rabbits to puppies to pigs — but probably not puppies dressed as bunnies, unfortunately.
