If you don’t recognise the beat that pumps out from the computer at 1.35 then you are either not gay, or not black, or not a golden oldie disco queen, or any combination of the above.
From Donna Summer’s 1977 concept album ‘Bad Girls’, ‘Remember Yesterday’ ask almost any old queen or muso and they’ll tell you to swallow it because this tune and it’s SPACEY-BASEY is a dance/disco historical node.
Italian synthesiser patriarch Giorgio Moroder claims “at the beginning [of ‘Love to Love’] the bass-line is terrible”, and he should know, he blooming made it. Well Mademoiselle Moroder nobody else noticed so shush it:
Giorgio, who worked alongside Daft Punk on their upcoming album, spoke to The Creators Project about ‘four on the floor’ dance beats, his thoughts on that 70s Donna Summers collaboration [“I didn’t think it was that important at the time”] and “the Ibiza Discotheque”; in the first episode of interviews with the collaborators on Daft Punk’s new album ‘Random Access Memories’.
I’d love to see ‘Giorgio in the midst’ of an Ibiza FOAM PARTY FLOOR FILLER, bikini on, arms in the air, face full of bubbles, dancing to Tiesto!
Thanks for the correction Marty, I was getting ‘Love to Love You’ and ‘I Feel Love’ all disco-mbobulated!
‘I Feel Love’, [12″ single version] was released on 2003’s re-release of Bad Girls [Dix Edition], an album I have, where it is on the second disc, so my mix up was between the tracks.
both great tracks….both complete classics…appreciate the fix…thanks x
“Love To Love You Baby” is from the same-titled LP from 1975, not the “Bad Girls” album.
Uh, whoever wrote this paragraph needs to give up their gay card: those lyrics are from “Love To Love You Baby” from the 1975 album of the same name.
