Natalie Portman, the now Oscar-winning actress who’s the face of Miss Dior Cherie, released a statement Monday night condemning Dior designer John Galliano for his (alleged) anti-Semitic tirade toward a couple in Paris — this, after a video popped up this weekend showing Galliano making said tirade. Portman’s statement says:

“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”

Dior suspended Galliano until the matter has been properly investigated, although rumor has it the house has been looking for a reason to axe the designer for some time. And now he’s given it to them. With videotape.

  1. He may have apologized, but I still don’t think that John Galliano is sorry for what he said at all because he was merely showing his true colors if you ask me!
