How do you promote a forthcoming star-packed musical? By making fun of a show that’s already running (bombing) on Broadway. George Takei, of gay Star Trek fame, and Lea Salonga, of Aladdin and Broadway fame, are set to star in 2012’s Allegiance: A New American Musical, which tells the story of a Japanese American family forced into an internment camp during World War II. But until then, George is offering himself up to revive Julie Taymor’s former train wreck, Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark. Hey, if it actually happens, I might just buy a ticket.
