You gotta hand it to Jane Lynch — she did an impressive job hosting last night’s 63rd Emmy Awards. But the show-stealing moment was, by far, when Amy Poehler, Melissa McCarthy, Tina Fey, Edie Falco, Laura Linney, and Martha Plimpton rushed the stage during the runoff for their category. McCarthy won, delivering a heartfelt acceptance speech and donning a tiara a la certain TV toddlers. But, oh, if only all pageants ended this way.
I don’t watch 1/3 of these women’s shows (OK, fine, Poehler and McCarthy,) but damn if this wasn’t the most fun moment of the night! Good for them for sending up silly pageantry! (And while I don’t watch her show, McCarthy’s great in everything and was a fun surprise win. Even if she’s no Martha Plimpton.)
