!! OMG, how smart: Richard Dawkins !!

Not only a brilliant speaker, Prof. Richard Dawkins of Oxford University is also quite a controversial and divisive figure, as one of his most famous proclamations is that religion and science are “wholly incompatible.” His most recent book The God Delusion explores this in-depth.
Before seeing this video and the one after the jump, I had never heard Prof. Dawkins speak, and I think if you watch it, you too will find him very convincing. The clips are from a lecture he did at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, VA.

Make sure to watch the Q&A after the jump, where Prof. Dawkins is asked dumb questions by students from Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University. I have never seen smack laid down with such humility.

  1. Thank you for posting this. I hope God doesn’t strike OMG! down for doing so. Of course, if Dawkins is wrong and the Liberty “University” scholars are correct, we should all be very, very afraid!
Hmmm…I’m not the slightest bit afraid.

  2. Dawkins is brilliant. I’ve read “The God Delusion,” and it is also an excellent book. Sam Harris, his colleague, has also written two similarly marvelous books, “The End of Faith,” and “Letter to a Christian Nation.”
They write (and speak) with a hint of sarcasm and a cutting wit that would make most Christians blush.

  3. omg! thank you for posting this!

  4. He is brilliant. There’s a whole ‘god delusion’ doc, have you seen it?
I have it posted on my blog

  5. Dawkins rocks my world. The God Delusion is a great read (also worth checking out Sam Harris’s “Letter to a Christian Nation”.

  6. He reminds me of Alan Watts, who was a really funny and entertaining speaker on the subject of religion, especially Zen.
