Since Will and Grace ended without even so much as a glimpse into Will’s bedroom, it seems America has tired of its gay characters on network television.
From Reuters:
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Gay people are becoming an endangered species on network television. A new report says a total of seven series on the five broadcast networks feature regular lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) characters this season, down from nine last season.
The number has dropped for the past three years, according to the annual “Where We Are on TV” study by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
I think the solution is to have better, more compelling characters than boring, neutered gay professionals. Where is Ricky from My So Called Life? Bring him back! (via ONTD)
He’s on Noah’s Arc, a.k.a the reason I wish I was a black gay man in L.A.
I think we need less gay characters and more characters that happen to be gay. I’d love to see a character where you don’t even know he’s gay till the third episode when a date shows up.
If we don’t get onto tv more than it will seem as if we’ve been defeated. we need more shows that shows that we are not monsters that we are just like every other person with everyday problems. I think Ellen should get her show back…just somebody who isn’t all out gay and won’t scare away the average american.
When I saw that picture, I had hoped it was gonna be an “OMG he’s naked.”
