A new breed of DJs is taking over the Balcony Lounge at the 2012 edition of New York’s infamous Black Party and among them are two of our favs: San Francisco bear hunter DJ P-Play and New York gay underground mainstay Ryan Smith. (Also live on the ones and twos are T-dot’s David Picard and P-town’s Mark Louque.)
Organizers from The Saint at Large reportedly drew inspiration from legendary Berlin techno club Berghain in programming the back room line-up so, you know, it’s not just about getting a pool cue shoved up your butt in front of hundreds of onlookers this year — it’s also about the music. Like, for real.
If you can’t wait until this weekend, get yourself in the mood today by listening to this DJ P-Play mix recorded live at Honey Soundsystem in San Francisco on March 11, 2012:
Rites XXXIII: The Black Party takes place on Saturday, March 24 at Roseland Ballroom (239 West 52nd Street). Tickets are on sale via blackparty.com. Check out this year’s trailer after the jump!
