!! OMG Playlist: December 2020 !!

OMG.BLOG Spotify playlist December 2020Every month, our music editor ED curates a special selection of newly released music for the OMG Playlist on Spotify (follow us @omgblog).

OMG, can you believe what a year? Despite all the hardships and trauma we have endured, we have all had our favorite tunes to fall back on, and 2020 has seen many iconic releases from a variety of artists.

Every month, we curate a playlist of our favourite new music across different vibes and genres, and with December marking the holidays, we had to include a few festive releases.

Our first fav was from the Queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey. Mariah teams up with fellow vocal powerhouses Jennifer Hudson and Ariana Grande for a new rendition of “Oh Santa!,” premiered on her ultra-super-hi-definition Magical Christmas Special.

Carly Rae Jepsen (gleefully) captures a less popular and celebrated sentiment of the holidays in “It’s Not Christmas till Somebody Cries.” While often joyful and harmonious, holiday parties can also be breeding grounds for disagreement, especially during the political tumult of this year. Carly Rae’s song is the anthem for anybody in the “get me out of here” spirit.

100 Gecs bring an antithetic, chaotic element to the joy of the holidays in “Sympathy for the Grinch.” Laura Les and Dylan Brady narrate the story of someone dissapointed by Santa’s presents: “I was good everyday, but he didn’t give a fuck!” the duo agonizes. In turn, they decide to rob him! At OMG.BLOG, we endorse Santa, but also love 100 Gecs.

Our December playlist also features non-holiday releases from Octo Octa, Cherry Glazerr, Tiga, and many more.
