OMG Playlist June 2021

Every month, our music editor ED curates a special selection of newly released music for the OMG Playlist on Spotify (follow us @omgblog).

OMG Happy June, Pride, Summer, etc.! In celebration of all these things, this month, we’re back with an extra-long playlist of fun new releases to get you dancing and kickstart your summer.

This month, we’re really digging Doja Cat’s the third studio album, Planet Her. The album is a masterful mix of futuristic pop, R&B, and rap. Planet Her is giving us a little Discipline-era Janet, which is maybe why we love it so much. Although we recommend listening to the album from start to finish, some of our favorites are in the playlist, including “Need to Know.” Watch the extra-terrestrial video for it here with a cameo from Grimes.

It’s hard to believe that Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” came out ten years ago! What better way to commemorate the moment by having Kylie Minogue cover “Marry the Night”? We love Kylie, and we love her rendition of the song. To hear more Kylie (and Dannii) check out our Maximal Minogue Playlist.

None of our monthly playlists would be complete without a few ground-stomping beats-something to channel your bitchiness to. One of those songs this month is “Dog House” by Slayyyter. This queen’s new album Troubled Paradise is pushing the Y2K revival full steam ahead. “Dog House” is crazy frantic, with a ballroom-inspired beat. We call it the perfect femme-dom anthem.

Of course, the playlist doesn’t stop there. We have over three hours of great tunes for you, including releases from Peggy Gou, Lorde, Tommy Genesis, Garbage, Ashnikko, Tyler the Creator, and more.

Die Lieder, die er singt, sind so süß zu hören. Ich bin bis jetzt einer der Fans.
