If you were celebrating Pride last weekend, then surely you heard Queen Bey’s new single “Break my Soul”. Beyoncé knew exactly what she was doing when she dropped this song during Pride Month! Everything about it—the uplifting lyrics, the house beat, and the Big Freedia feature, all scream G-A-Y. We love the spirit of the song paired with the “Show Me Love” sample. Can’t wait to see what Beyoncé is cooking up for her album Renaissance which is coming out next month!
One of our favorite new releases this month is “SHAKE DAT” from River Moon. The song was “lyrically inspired by the male and female call and response songs like ‘Promiscuous’ by Timbaland and Nelly Furtado and ‘B R Right’ by Trina and Luda while referencing M.I.A. and Diplo’s work on her Kala album.” River covers both “male and female” parts of this song and kills it! We recommend you play at this at the peak of your next party.
We’re so excited for the comeback of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! Their new single “Spitting off the Edge of the World” features Perfume Genius (who also dropped his incredible album Ugly Season this month) and is like a hazy sonic dreamscape. It’s a song for when you’re moving slow in the morning with the sun on your face, or walking home late at night a little tipsy and appreciative. Make sure you check out the music video, directed by Cody Critchloe!
