If you were out on the dance floor celebrating Pride last month, you probably grooved to some house or techno beats! By now, we should all know that these genres have roots in the groundbreaking work of Black artists, who pioneered the sound at underground raves in Detroit and Chicago.
In June, we had the privilege of indulging in fresh tracks from some of these influential artists who have shaped the landscape of dance music; Mr. Fingers, Moodymann, Theo Parrish, and Omar S gifted us with their latest creations, which have been on constant replay for us.
Additionally, we’ve been immersing ourselves in the music of the genre’s successors. Take, for example, Charli XCX‘s catchy new song “Speed Drive” from the upcoming Barbie movie soundtrack. Remember to keep an eye on your speed, Charli, so you don’t get a ticket!
