Here is a short recap of the most thrilling music videos to be released in the past week or so…
If Scissor Sisters front man Jake Shears had published a sex book earlier this year, the music video for “Any Which Way” could’ve been the making of documentation. The video is basically an excuse for the Sisters to dress up in colorfully skimpy outfits and do wacky things that look good when filmed with a high-speed Phantom camera (such as shooting sushi at each other). It was directed by Ace Norton, the man behind this delectable Simian Mobile Disco video.
If you’ve heard M.I.A.‘s noisy new album /\/\/\Y/\, then you may have noticed that “XXXO” feels a bit like the tacked-on pop single. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) In the Hype Williams-directed clip for the song, M.I.A. glams up the hyperactive .gif portraiture and graphical Internet overload that she’s been known to indulge in. Very reminiscent of the video for “Jimmy”.
